From flying Royal Air Force fast-jets to personal finance – definitely not a normal pathway! So how, and more importantly, why?
Kevin joined the SJP Financial Adviser Academy and founded Gatland Wealth Management in 2020 following a fulfilling and rewarding 20-year career as a Tornado GR4 Navigator in the RAF. Leaving as a Wing Commander, his end of career highlights included managing and orchestrating the RAF Centenary Flypast in 2018 over Buckingham Palace and helping deliver the out of service events of the Tornado aircraft in 2019. In December 2018, Kevin was awarded the OBE. You could say detailed planning and attention to detail was in his DNA!
The Move into Finance
So what prompted his move into finance?
Ever since the great financial crisis of 2008, and completing a Masters degree which had an element of International Affairs in 2016, Kevin has been intrigued and fascinated about the complex global financial world in which we all live. While we have little control over how Governments and Central Banks make their decisions, we can and should take control of our actions and set ourselves up appropriately – we can build our own family financial fortress.
With a deep passion for human psychology and interest in how we can all make great financial decisions, combined with the general lack of good financial education and literacy taught from school, Gatland Wealth Management was founded with a commitment to understanding the human first, building financial literacy simply, and delivering lifestyle-focused financial plans centred around our clients’ values, goals and aspirations.
With this stead-fast focus and client satisfaction, we’ve grown significantly over the years and in 2023 we moved to a new office, just outside Godalming. Our commitment to working with successful, busy professionals, business owners and military and veteran clients will see us continue our story and journey for many years to come. We would love for you to be part of this story too.
